I’ve pretty much been trying to lose weight for as long as I can remember. Even at my thinnest, I was either dieting, thinking about dieting, or planning what diet I was starting Monday. Sound familiar?
Over the years my weight went up and down, eventually reaching more than 220 pounds. I tried all the things and I could lose weight. But keeping it off was another story.
Then on Valentine’s Day 2016, Lovies and I started keto together. I wasn’t looking to start a website, write cookbooks or build a community. I just wanted accountability to lose some weight and find something I could actually live with.
Turns out, I found a whole lot more.
KetoHabits grew out of sharing what was working for me…the food, the recipes, the wins, the screw-ups and all the real life in between. Somewhere along the way, those little changes became habits, the habits became a lifestyle, and this little corner of the internet became a community I never expected.
Since then, I’ve lost 65+ pounds, written two cookbooks, shared a ridiculous amount of food on the internet, traveled to some incredible places, and learned that getting healthier doesn’t have to mean putting your life on hold.
These days, life is full. Lovies and I have three grown kids, a house full of animals, a business to run, places we still want to see and plenty of good food left to eat.
One thing that has stayed with me through all of it is something my mom used to say: “HAPPY UP!” Whatever battle you’re fighting, you get to decide what you do next. No perfection required. Just keep showing up.
